The Dream
Last night I had a dream. It was a large foot stepping onto the earth. When the large foot hit the ground it left a vibration that rippled across the globe. For some reason I felt this foot belonged to someone in my family tree that I had been working on. I thought it belonged to my grandmothers grandfather. He has been on my mind a lot lately because I have done so much research on him. I have been very interested in him because he was in the civil war and was a great man. The footstep in my dream left me feeling like he was talking to me telling me to watch my step because each step we take leaves a vibration on the earth with a rippling effect that can be traced throughout the ages.
My great great grandfathers name was Elijah Stinson. He was just a young boy when he joined the civil war along with his older brother. During a battle he was shot in the shoulder. He walked to a doctor and got his arm patched up and then walked back, several miles I may add to rejoin in the fighting. Upon returning to his post he was told to go home that they could not use him because he did not have the use of one arm. He never was able to use that arm again.
The dream made me think something profound. Just one step. Just one step to the left, or just one step to the right and he could have been killed. Had he stepped one more step our whole line of family would not be here. The line would have ended with him. I would not be writing this. My grandchildren would have never been born. Our entire line could have vanished with just one little step. The impact of that one step not taken has given me all my years of life and left me grateful that he was safe. For I would not be here if he weren’t.
